UPMC Presbyterian - Shadyside
October 26, 2022 | 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. ET
Incivility and “acting out” are all too common occurrences in health care settings. Violence directed at health care workers is at an all-time high and a major problem that has caught the attention of legislators at both the federal and state levels. Experienced nurse leaders, let alone those newer to leadership roles, often express their lack of comfort in addressing conflict situations that arise in the workplace from patients, families, and staff.
This webinar will assist leaders in better articulating and practicing self-reflection and recognizing how their reactions impact their team. It will guide them in building a culture of trust to support open communication and, as a result, reduce the need to manage incivility. Strategies of effective communication between nurses in relation to managing patient disruptive behavior will be presented. As an outcome of attendance, leaders will be able to discuss best practices that build a culture of engagement between staff and nurse leaders.
